Employers

“We had around 40 people in attendance with a real mixture of ages.  It is fair to say that some were more nervous than others but very soon Jen was able to get them to overcome their reluctance and soon the whole group were belting out the tunes.”
Claire, Business Owner

My work role can be quite stressful at times, I find the sessions give me something else to focus on and calms the mind as well as being a mini workout! Transferring that into a work environment with colleagues would have a powerful impact on both positive mental health and team building.
Lesley
There’s something about singing with a group that reminds you that you are working collectively and it brings a sense of togetherness. We can relax and connect and it’s really that simple.

Frequently asked questions

For Employees

Only a very small percentage of the population is actually ‘tone deaf’, but even if you think you can’t sing at all, you can definitely still join in. It doesn’t matter how great you think you are at singing - just the act of singing produces all the wellbeing benefits. Once you’re within a group, all singing together, you’ll probably feel better about your voice and start to feel more confident about how you sound. Our choirs are non-auditioned and everyone is encouraged to join in.
If you would feel more confident sitting towards the back, that’s ok, and if you’d rather just listen at first until you feel more confident, that’s also ok. The sessions are designed to help you feel more confident and we endeavour to put you at ease at all times. Sessions start with a fun warm up that’s meant to relax you ready for having a go at singing songs together. Remember, you probably won’t be the only one who’s self conscious and everyone will be concentrating on their own voice, rather than judging yours!
Sessions are meant to be fun and we will spend some time getting to know each other and building trust. Group singing is a great way to bond a group of people, so hopefully you’ll eventually feel comfortable around everyone. We work at the right pace for each group and no one is expected to perform or do anything that makes them uncomfortable. We would never single anyone out, especially if they are nervous - there are no auditions or solos (unless people want them!), and feel free to come and have a chat before we get started and we’ll aim to put you at ease.
Of course you can, if you need to step out at all, just take your time and come back if/when you feel comfortable. If you’d rather sit at the back that’s ok, and if you want to speak beforehand so we can put you at ease, then please come and introduce yourself. Sessions are designed to be fun, easygoing and aim to build confidence.
Not at all. Singing has been a part of our evolution and goes right back to early verbal communication. To have fun and join in with singing you need absolutely no formal music tuition. As the sessions progress we’ll work together on technique, posture and sensible warm ups so hopefully you will learn something.
That depends on your team’s musical taste. A programme of music will be designed around what your team tells us about the kind of music they like: from The Beatles to Abba; the 80s to musical theatre; Lady Gaga to Spice Girls - we try to have something in there for everyone. Please feel free to suggest songs you’d like to explore. We will work at a difficulty level everyone is comfortable with, but will also try to challenge you a little from time to time!
If you are experiencing a very busy work life, you may benefit from taking some time out to relax, get creative and take your mind off work, but we appreciate that you may have a large workload and an hour or two may feel overwhelming. Singing at work is never mandatory, but please speak to your manager if your workload is too much.
Singing at work isn’t a traditional team building event. There are no mental or physical challenges to complete and you won’t be expected to speak to anyone else if you don’t want to! We'll typically be sat in a semi-circle, with the leader at the piano and after a good warm up, we’ll work through songs bit by bit, building up to the full song. The act of singing releases feel good, stress relief and group bonding hormones so what we usually see is that people relax and get into the spirit of things quickly. You can sing as loud or quiet as you want and interact with the leader as much or as little as you like.
Singing is proven to reduce stress, make people feel happier, bond people and improve productivity. Your manager/HR manager has chosen singing because it has so many wellbeing benefits. If you are on the +CSR programme you’ll also be taking benefits out into your community/for your chosen charity.
Please speak to your employer, but most wellbeing activities are provided to benefit employees and are held within paid work hours.
Hormones released during singing:

●   Reduce stress at work.
●   Bond the team and improve team relationships/friendships.
●   Improve mood and motivation.

The physical workout of singing is great for the lungs and overall health and singing is also a great mental workout. Joining a singing programme can improve your wellbeing.
No one has to perform if they aren’t comfortable. We will likely be giving a performance at some point, whether that be out in the community or within the workplace, and we’ll be working towards that as a goal from the start. Even if you’ve no intention of performing, you are still welcome to attend sessions and experience all the wellbeing benefits.
Your leader would love to talk to you about that. It may be possible to introduce your instrument, depending on space, song choices and your confidence.
Tell your leader at your next session, or let your manager know and they can communicate the suggestion by email.
Sessions are designed to challenge all participants to an appropriate level. If a group includes experienced singers, then we can attempt more advanced songs and there may be the opportunity to help lead a section.

For Employers

Ideally we need a space with enough room for people to sit in a semi circle with the leader at the front. The leader will need a power source for the keyboard and the singers will need chairs. If there isn’t a larger enough space for that set up, we can work with people sat in rows or stood up to save space.
Just a power supply please for the keyboard. All other (PAT tested) equipment is supplied by the session leader.
●   Two hour singing workshop: £275 + £40/hour travel expenses

●   Six month programme: £800/month
●   Six month programme: +CSR: £850/month

Please see the four packages outlined here to see what’s included
Group singing is proven to release various beneficial hormones, as well as provide a physical workout for lungs, body and mind.

Hormones released during singing:
●   Reduce stress which could improve output and reduce sick leave.
●   Improve the bond between group members which could improve team dynamics and productivity.
●   Improve mood and thus motivation.

The physical workout is great for your employees’ health and may reduce sick leave. A singing programme can improve the overall wellbeing and satisfaction of your team, and meet your CSR requirements.

The upper limit on numbers depends on the space we have to work in. Very large groups can easily be accommodated in a large space. We would suggest having a minimum of 10 singers for a session to work well.
Sessions will be noisy at times, especially if a large group is singing together. Most of the time we’ll just be working with a single keyboard or backing track, but large numbers of voices do make a lot of noise. A session should ideally be held in a closed room, or somewhere away from offices where people need quiet to continue working.
We are interested in finding out the musical tastes of your team so that we can create the right setlist of songs. We want your team to be motivated to join in because they love the music. At our initial consultation we’ll ask you about your team’s musical taste/favourite musical era so that we can begin planning the right programme asap. Song suggestions are always welcome and original songwriting is a possibility if people want to get creative. The leader will always read the room and respond to how enthusiastic/nervous a group is. The learning pace and level of difficulty will be appropriate for the team.
We can arrange for a room (at an additional cost) in the local area, depending on availability, or, sessions for up to 20 people could be held at our studio in Ossett during office hours.
Sessions are usually held during the day, during office hours. Day/time is dependent on availability but we would discuss this at our initial consultation. If you would prefer early morning before the working day begins this may be possible. Evenings/after work are not available.
For one off sessions, cancellations made within 24 hours of the booking are fully chargeable, within 72-24 hours of the booking are chargeable at 50% of the fee, and cancellations over 72 hours before the booking are not chargeable, however, we appreciate as much notice as possible.

For six month programmes the monthly fee is paid in arrears and we require two weeks’ notice to cancel.
Sessions are designed to challenge all participants to an appropriate level. If a group includes experienced singers, then we can attempt more advanced songs and there may be the opportunity to help lead a section.
Yes we are happy to run a one off workshop to gauge interest and see if your team enjoys it before committing to a six month programme. Please have a look at the half day workshop page for details of one off workshops.
